How to Activate DeskPins on Your Desktop

Activating DeskPins on your desktop is very simple. Once installed, it runs quietly in the background and lets you pin any window so it stays always on top. You don’t need advanced settings—just a few clicks are enough to start using it.

DeskPins is designed to be quick and lightweight, so activation happens directly from the system tray.

Step 1: Open DeskPins

After installation, launch DeskPins from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut. Once opened, you will not see a full window—instead, a small pin icon will appear in the system tray near the clock.

This icon shows that DeskPins is active and ready to use.

Step 2: Click the System Tray Icon

To activate pinning mode, click once on the DeskPins icon in the system tray.

When you click it, your mouse cursor will change into a small pin symbol. This means the tool is now ready to pin a window.

DeskPins uses this simple action to switch between normal mode and pin mode instantly.

Step 3: Select Any Window

Now move your cursor to the window you want to keep on top—such as a browser, video player, notes app, or calculator.

Click anywhere on the window’s title bar. A small red pin icon will appear on that window, showing it is successfully activated.

From this point, the window will stay on top of all others.

Step 4: Use Your Desktop Normally

After pinning a window, you can continue working normally. Open other apps, switch tabs, or multitask—the pinned window will remain visible above everything else.

This makes it easier to follow tutorials, watch videos, or keep important tools in view.

Step 5: Unpin When Needed

If you want to remove the pin, simply click the small pin icon on the window again.

You can also use the system tray icon to manage or remove all pinned windows at once.

DeskPins keeps the process reversible so you can easily turn the feature on or off anytime.

Optional Auto Start (Extra Convenience)

If you want DeskPins to activate automatically every time Windows starts, you can enable the startup option in settings or system startup preferences.

This way, the tool is always ready without manual opening.

Conclusion

Activating DeskPins on your desktop is very easy: open the app, click the tray icon, select a window, and it becomes pinned on top.

DeskPins makes multitasking simple by letting you control window visibility with just a few clicks.
